Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (add to the buttermilk)
  • 2 squares baking chocolate, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer.
  • Add in the egg yolks and the melted chocolate squares.
  • Mix the baking soda with the buttermilk in a small bowl, then pour into the egg/ sugar mixture.
  • Add flour and mix well.
  • Gently fold in the egg whites.
  • Pour into prepared pans and bake for 30 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
