Sunday Roast Beef

Slow Cooker Sunday Roast Beef

1 1/2 – 2 Pound beef sirloin roast

1 Tablespoon cooking oil

4-6 cloves of whole peeled garlic

2 Yellow or white onions sliced

1/2  teaspoon  Dry mustard

1/2  teaspoon Garlic powder

1/2  teaspoon Onion powder

1/2 teaspoon Coriander

3/4 teaspoon chili powder

3/4 teaspoon paprika

1 1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

3 cups water ( or more if needed)

Directions:

Heat oil in a large frying pan.  Sear all edges of your roast in the frying pan, until all edges have a nice brown color.

Meanwhile in your slow cooking pot, add sliced onions to the bottom of the pan.

Once the meat is browned stab the meat to insert the cloves of garlic directly into the meat.

Place your roast on top of the onions in the slow cooker pot.  Next prepare all of your spices.

You can combine all the dry spices into one bowl if you like.  Continue by sprinkling all of the spices over your roast.

Now, on to the water.  Add about three cups of water (just above the onion line, but not to far up the roast sides.)

Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on high about 4-6 hours (until the meat has shrunk a bit and is thoroughly browned).  Adjust heat to low and continue to cook 2-4 hours more.  Cooking time depends on the actual size of your roast and how tender you like it.  Our family prefers it to fall apart, so I cook it 9-10 hours total.
