Tip of the Week: Making a Heart Shaped Cake
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Surprise your valentines with this easy to make heart shaped cake. Any cake will do- from scratch, from a box, it doesn’t matter!
Prepare the batter and distribute the batter evenly between 1 square pan and 1 round pan. The trick here will be to make sure if you use a 8 inch square you are also using a 8 inch round, or 9 inch square, a 9 inch round, you get the idea. Once your cake is baked, you will want to let the cakes cool completely. Once cooled you will wrap them securely with plastic wrap and place them in the freezer. ( Frozen cakes are much easier to cut, shape and frost.)
Once the cakes have frozen (overnight) you will cut your round as described below. Place the two half rounds on the edge of the square and viola! you have a heart. Now just frost away!
