Scratch Chocolate Cake

Who can resist a homemade chocolate cake from scratch? Yummy and moist this recipe will be a family favorite in no time!
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups cake flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (add to the buttermilk)
- 2 squares baking chocolate, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°
- Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer.
- Add in the egg yolks and the melted chocolate squares.
- Mix the baking soda with the buttermilk in a small bowl, then pour into the egg/ sugar mixture.
- Add flour and mix well.
- Gently fold in the egg whites.
- Pour into prepared pans and bake for 30 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
