Butternut Crunch Candy

This candy recipe adds a twist to the normal peanut brittle recipe.

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup butter

1 1/2 cups chopped nuts

2 packages chocolate chips melted

Directions:

Combine in a saucepan sugar, salt, water and butter and cook until it comes to a light crack stage or 285 degrees.

Add 1/2 cup nuts

Pour onto a well greased cookie sheet and let cook.

Once cooled, spread 1/2 of the melted chocolate and sprinkle with 1/2 of the remaining nuts.   Once hardened, turn over and spread the remaining melted chocolate and sprinkle with the remaining nuts.

Once cooled, break into pieces for serving.

Makes about 2 dozen pieces.
