Hot cocoa in a prepackaged powder is okay, but nothing beats homemade cocoa made on the stove. Making it yourself you have the option to make it with the milk you like and just as much or as little chocolate you like. It just tastes so much better!
Ingredients
- 2 Squares unsweetened chocolate (2 oz.)
- 3 Cups milk
- 1 Cup Water
- 3 Tbs Sugar
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Place chocolate squares and water in a small pan and heat over low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Add in the sugar and a pinch of salt. Boil for 4 minutes, continuing to stir constantly. Slowly stir in the milk and cover and heat until the milk it warmed ( do not allow to boil). Remove from heat.
- Just before pouring in to cups, whisk the mixture until smooth.
- Top with marshmallows and/ or whipped cream.
