This is a busy night for the family and I don’t have a lot of time to cook, so we are going to make an easy Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich with a side salad. Most of this meal can be prepared (either homemade or made with ingredients from the market). I used mostly items from the market since I had little time for prep.
Menu Tonight:
Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches
Side Green Salad with homemade ranch (if you are stressed for time you can always use store bought dressing too)
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- Hoagie Rolls (1 per serving)
- Roast Beef (1/3 pound per serving)
- White Onion (3 servings per onion)
- Bell Pepper (any color- 3 servings per bell)
- Provolone Cheese Slices (figure 2 slices per serving)
- Au Ju mix ( usually a powder that you add water to)
Instructions
- Start by slicing your onions and peppers into small slices.
- In a large skillet preheat with 1 teaspoon of oil.
- Once hot, add the sliced onions and peppers.
- Cook until they start to soften.
- Add sliced roast beef into the pan.
- Add the dry au ju mix. (the vegetables should have produced enough liquid to make it a little juicy, if not you can add a little water to the pan. You do not want a ton of juice, but a little is good.)
- Heat thoroughly.
- Turn on your oven broiler.
- Slice hoagie rolls in half and lay opened on a cookie sheet.
- Divide meat/ onion/ peppers onto the open faced rolls
- Top with a couple slices of cheese.
- Place in broiler until cheese melts.
- Serve immediately.
